Shooting Highlights

The Indian shooting duo of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Parinaaz Dhaliwal advanced to the finals of the mixed skeet event at the Asian Games taking place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Thursday. They secured fourth place in the qualification round with a score of 138 out of 150, trailing behind Qatar (145), South Korea (143), and China (140).

Both Anantjeet and Parinaaz contributed to their respective men's and women's skeet teams on Wednesday, which earned medals. Anantjeet played a pivotal role in clinching a bronze for the men's team, while Parinaaz, alongside teammates Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan, also secured bronze for the women's team.

Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team's Performance

In another event, the men's 10m air pistol team, consisting of Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Aakash Bhardwaj, finished fourth with a total score of 1727-53x. They were outperformed by China (1743-70x), Indonesia (1743-57x), and Japan (1730-54x).

Kamaljeet scored 580-16x, placing ninth individually, while Aakash finished eleventh with 579-20x. Only the top eight shooters qualify for the individual finals. Kedarling struggled, finishing 35th with a score of 568, which impacted India's overall standing.

Wushu: Roshibina Devi's Silver Medal Achievement

Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi claimed her second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games, losing to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the women's sanda 60 kg final on Thursday. Roshibina, who also won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, lost both rounds with a score of 0-5, as reported by ESPN.

With a bronze from the 2018 Asian Games already in her collection, Roshibina becomes the first Indian woman to achieve three consecutive medals in Wushu at the Asian Games. Her impressive journey in Japan included a victory over 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam. In the semi-finals, she defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 to secure her spot in the final.

Rowing: Bronze in Double Sculls and Fourth in Singles

In rowing, the team of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan earned a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final, clocking a time of 6:13.25. They finished just 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists from China, Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin, according to ESPN. The duo maintained a strong position throughout the race but fell back in the final stretch.

In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth. He was in second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but was overtaken by Uzbekistan's Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan's Tatsuya Sakurama in the final 500m. Balraj clocked a time of 6:54.80, finishing 15 seconds behind gold medalist Zhiwei Deng of China.
