Indian Sailors Seek Government Assistance
Indian sailors operating commercial vessels near Iran and the Strait of Hormuz have urgently requested assistance from the Indian government. They report that recent U.S. military strikes in the region have targeted them and their ships, putting their lives at significant risk.
Why Are We Being Dragged into Others' Conflicts?
In several viral videos circulating on social media, distressed Indian sailors express their fears. One sailor stated, "We are in Iran, and the situation is dire. Only ships with Indian crews are being attacked. Why are we being dragged into someone else's conflict? We are not soldiers; we are ordinary sailors working on contracts to support the economy, transport oil, and facilitate global trade." He questioned why they are being targeted when Indian crew members have not received any military training.
Tragic Incident Claims Lives of Three Indian Sailors
In the video, a sailor recounted a tragic event, revealing that a ship he previously worked on was recently attacked, resulting in the deaths of three Indian sailors. He mentioned, "The ship that was attacked yesterday was one I had worked on. I spoke with the captain, who informed me that a missile was launched near Oman." Another sailor expressed concern that over 1.3 million Indian sailors are employed worldwide, yet no one is listening to their pleas during this crisis.
Sailors Send Emergency Messages Following U.S. Navy Attacks
Last week, the Indian crew aboard a sanctioned oil tanker named 'Marivex' sent out an emergency message stating, "Please help us," as their ship began to sink following an attack near the coast of Oman.
Reports indicate that the U.S. military has targeted several oil tankers flagged from Palau, which had Indian sailors on board, near the coast of Oman. An attack on another vessel with 24 Indian crew members resulted in a missile striking the engine room, creating a hole in the ship. At that time, a crew member sent a message saying, "The U.S. Navy has attacked. All 24 crew members are Indian; please send help quickly." Fortunately, the crew was later rescued, but the atmosphere in the area remains tense and fearful.
