Indian Rowers Achieve Notable Results

The Indian rowing team, consisting of Kulwinder Singh, Navdeep Singh, Jakar Khan, and Balraj Panwar, secured fifth place in the men's quadruple sculls final at the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday. They recorded a time of 5:52.17, finishing behind the gold medalists from China, who clocked 5:46.03, followed by Indonesia at 5:47.90 and Uzbekistan at 5:48.96.

Bronze Medal for Satnam and Salman in Double Sculls

In another highlight of the rowing events, the duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clinched a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final. They completed the race in 6:13.25, falling short by 3.48 seconds to the gold medal-winning Chinese team of Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin. The Indian pair held the second position at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but lost momentum towards the end, finishing just half a second behind the leaders.

Balraj Panwar Finishes Fourth in Singles Sculls

In the men's singles sculls event, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in fourth place. He was in second position at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m checkpoints but was overtaken by Uzbekistan's Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan's Tatsuya Sakurama in the final stretch. Despite having a five-second lead over Sakurama before the last 500m, he ended up finishing eight seconds behind, with a time of 6:54.80, which was 15 seconds slower than gold medalist Zhiwei Deng from China.

With these performances, India has now accumulated a total of 13 medals at the Asian Games, which includes one gold, five silvers, and seven bronzes.
