Indian Railways to Operate 908 Summer Special Trains from April to July 2026

Indian Railways is set to operate 908 summer special trains from April 15 to July 15, 2026, providing over 18,000 journeys to cater to the anticipated rise in passenger demand. Overview of Summer Special Train Services

From April 15 to July 15, 2026, Indian Railways will introduce 908 summer special trains, offering a total of 18,262 journeys to accommodate the expected surge in passenger demand during the busy travel season. Out of these, bookings for 660 trains, covering 11,294 trips, have already commenced, allowing travelers to plan their journeys in advance. This initiative aims to ensure smooth and comfortable travel, particularly during holidays and festivals in the summer months.


Distribution of Trains Across Railway Zones

The special train services will be available across all major railway zones. The South Central Railway leads with 124 approved trains, facilitating 1,184 trips, with bookings for 76 trains already open for 324 trips. Following closely is the Western Railway, which has 106 approved trains (2,078 trips) and 92 notified trains (1,667 trips). Other zones include the North Western Railway with 76 approved trains (2,245 trips) and 62 notified trains (1,878 trips); the Northern Railway with 76 approved trains (2,090 trips) and 56 notified trains (1,535 trips); and the Central Railway with 74 approved trains (3,082 trips) and 70 notified trains (2,238 trips).


Additional Train Approvals

Moreover, the Southern Railway has received approval for 72 trains (558 trips), with 38 of them (133 trips) already notified. The East Central Railway has 64 trains approved (2,711 trips), with 38 (1,060 trips) notified. The North Central Railway has 54 approved trains (1,163 trips), with 46 (688 trips) notified. Additionally, the North Eastern Railway has 52 approved trains (814 trips), with 34 (477 trips) notified.

Other regions have also received approvals and notifications: the East Coast Railway has 28 approved trains (410 trips), with 18 (88 notified); the West Central Railway has 28 approved trains (408 trips), with 18 (192 notified); the Eastern Railway has 24 approved trains (392 trips), with 10 (276 notified); the North Frontier Railway has 24 approved trains (220 trips), with 20 (141 notified); the South Eastern Railway has 20 approved trains (276 trips), with 18 (250 notified); the South East Central Railway has 10 approved trains (122 trips), with 8 (70 notified); and the South Western Railway has 76 approved trains (509 trips), with 56 (277 notified).
