Indian Medical Association Raises Concerns Over NEET-UG 2026 Irregularities
Concerns Raised by the Indian Medical Association
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed strong dissatisfaction in a letter to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the alleged paper leak and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The association highlighted that NEET has been embroiled in controversies for the past four years, with the exam being canceled twice during this period. According to the IMA, these recurring issues have caused significant mental stress and uncertainty for millions of students and their families.
Challenges of Conducting Large-Scale Exams
This year, approximately 22.5 lakh candidates participated in the NEET-UG 2026 exam, which took place across more than 550 cities and over 5,500 examination centers nationwide. The IMA noted that organizing such a large-scale offline exam on a single day is becoming increasingly challenging, raising the risk of irregularities. In response to this situation, the IMA has put forth several key recommendations, including the decentralization of the NEET examination process and suggesting that states be given greater responsibility. The association has also called for the exam to be conducted entirely in an online format.
Call for Investigation and Accountability
Furthermore, the IMA has demanded a CBI investigation into the matter and the immediate arrest of those involved. They have also called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the entire network behind the alleged irregularities. The association emphasized the need to identify all individuals involved and ensure that those guilty face severe penalties.
