The Indian Men's and Women's Hockey teams have made the nation proud at the U18 Asia Cup 2026, with the Men's team winning gold and the Women's team securing bronze. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi have congratulated the teams for their stellar performances. Hockey India has also announced significant cash rewards for the players and support staff. Celebrating Hockey Triumphs

Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi have expressed their congratulations to the Indian Women's and Men's Hockey teams for their remarkable achievements at the U18 Asia Cup 2026.


The Men's team clinched the championship title by defeating the host nation, Japan, with a score of 4-1 in the final held in Kakamigahara, Japan, on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Women's team secured a bronze medal after a decisive 3-0 win against Korea in the third-place match.


Priyanka Gandhi's Commendation

Priyanka Gandhi took to social media platform X to commend the Indian teams for their historic accomplishments. She highlighted the pride they brought to the nation and extended her best wishes to all players. In her post, she stated, "India has made history in the Under-18 Hockey Asia Cup. Punjab Chief Minister Mann also congratulated the Men's junior hockey team for their gold medal victory at the Asia Cup, commending their exceptional performance. He expressed pride in the youth of Punjab for their contributions to India's hockey success and emphasized the state government's commitment to enhancing sports facilities and reviving the sports culture in Punjab. In his post, he remarked, "Heartfelt congratulations to the Indian Junior Hockey Team for their stellar performance and winning the 'Gold Medal' in the 'Junior Asia Cup'. We take immense pride in our Punjabi youth who are upholding this glorious hockey legacy with such excellence. The government is dedicated to reviving the sports culture in Punjab and providing world-class facilities to athletes. Hockey India's Cash Rewards

In recognition of the teams' outstanding performances, Hockey India has announced cash rewards for the players. Each member of the gold medal-winning Indian U-18 Men's Hockey Team will receive Rs 3 lakh, while the support staff will be awarded Rs 1.5 lakh each. Additionally, players from the Indian U-18 Women's Hockey Team, who secured the bronze medal, will receive Rs 1 lakh each, along with Rs 50,000 for each member of their support staff.
