The excitement for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is building, and Indian supporters now have clear information on how to catch the action. After a period of speculation, Zee Entertainment has been officially designated as the broadcaster for the tournament in India.
This agreement not only covers the 2026 World Cup but also includes broadcasting rights for 38 other FIFA events through 2034, significantly enhancing Zee's role in international football coverage.
New Sports Channels and Streaming Options
In line with its broadcasting strategy, Zee has launched four new sports channels: Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD, Unite8 Sports 2, and Unite8 Sports 2 HD. Fans can also watch matches on Zee5, the company's streaming service, which offers two subscription options: a three-month plan for ₹799 and an annual plan for ₹1699.
Free Match Coverage on DD Sports
For those who do not have access to Zee channels or Zee5, Doordarshan Sports will provide free coverage of selected matches. The opening match between Mexico and South Africa will be broadcast on June 11, starting at 12:30 AM on June 12 in India.
Additionally, DD Sports will air the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final on DD Free Dish. The quarterfinal matches are set for July 9, 10, and 11, with the semifinals on July 14 and 15, and the grand final on July 19.
