Vice President CP Radhakrishnan expressed his admiration for Indian athletes following their remarkable performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He highlighted the determination and fighting spirit displayed by the athletes, particularly praising boxers Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal, Priya Ghanghas, and Sakshi Chaudhary for their gold medals, along with Lovlina Borgohain for her silver and Unnati Sharma for her bronze in judo.

Record-Breaking Boxing Campaign

India wrapped up its historic boxing campaign at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with an impressive total of seven gold medals. This achievement was capped off when Narender Berwal secured a silver medal in the men's 90+kg category on Saturday.

Finals Highlights

In the men's 60kg final, Sachin Siwach made a remarkable comeback against Namibia's Tryagain Morning Ndevelo. After trailing in the first two rounds, he fought back fiercely in the final round, resulting in a thrilling 3-2 split-decision victory that earned him the gold medal.

Ankush Panghal clinched India's seventh gold medal in boxing by defeating England's Dimeji Shittu 4-1 in a split decision during the men's 80kg final.

Arundhati Choudhary showcased her dominance in the women's 70kg final, winning gold by defeating England's Chantelle Reid 5-0 with a unanimous decision.

Lovlina Borgohain narrowly missed out on gold, finishing with a silver after losing 1-4 in a split decision to Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree in the women's 75kg final.

Additional Medals and Recognition

VP Radhakrishnan also commended Priya Ghanghas and Sakshi Chaudhary for their gold medals in boxing, as well as Unnati Sharma for her bronze in judo. He described their accomplishments as a proud moment for the nation and expressed hopes for their future successes in international competitions.

Priya Ghanghas concluded a memorable campaign for Indian women's boxing with a hard-fought 4-1 split-decision victory over Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh in the women's 60kg final.
