Indian boxer Sachin Siwach has secured his spot in the men's 60kg semifinals at the Commonwealth Games 2026, following a unanimous victory over Botswana's Treasure Moremi in the quarterfinals. This win guarantees India at least one medal in this category.

After his match, Sachin expressed his determination to win gold, stating that he felt a bit nervous before the fight but found it manageable. He emphasized his commitment to following his coaches' strategies for the upcoming semifinal, saying, "Gold was expected, and only gold will come. I dedicate this medal to my family and coaches."

Impressive Quarterfinal Performance

From the start, Sachin showcased his skills, landing a strong left hook early in the first round and maintaining control throughout the match. Despite a brief interruption due to Moremi's injury, Sachin dominated the round, with all five judges scoring in his favor.

In the second round, his quick combinations and precise punches overwhelmed Moremi, leading to another unanimous decision from the judges. As the final round progressed, Sachin maintained his lead, ultimately winning by unanimous decision.

Upcoming Semifinal Challenge

Having previously defeated competitors from Canada and England, Sachin is set to face Wales' Owain Harris-Allan in the semifinals on Friday, aiming for a place in the gold medal match.

Ankush and Narender Join the Semifinals

Alongside Sachin, Indian boxers Ankush and Narender Berwal also advanced to the semifinals. Ankush triumphed over Seychelles' Jade Micock with a 5-0 victory in the men's 80kg quarterfinal, while Narender narrowly defeated Samoa's Michael Seko in the men's 90+kg category.

Ankush expressed his confidence in converting his medal into gold, stating, "It's confirmed that one more medal is added. Now I have to change it into gold." He dedicated his achievement to his family and coach, especially as a gift for Guru Purnima.

Narender described his match as challenging against a heavier opponent and dedicated his assured medal to his late coach, Devraj. He emphasized his goal of winning gold, saying, "Today's match was quite tough, but I won all three rounds."

Thrilling Victory for Narender

Narender's match concluded with a 3-2 split decision, showcasing a thrilling contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Despite fatigue setting in, Narender landed a decisive blow that led to a count against Seko, allowing him to secure the victory.

India's Medal Count Grows

Narender's victory marked the fifth Indian boxer to reach the semifinals, contributing to a successful day for India's boxing team in Glasgow. Alongside Siwach, Arundhati Choudhary and Sakshi Chaudhary also advanced to the semifinals.
