Indian Boxers Excel at Asian Boxing Championships 2026

The Indian U-17 girls' boxing team has made a significant impact at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, securing 12 medals. With standout performances from boxers like Rakhi, Khushi, and Mamta, the team demonstrated their strength and skill. Despite a narrow loss for Ovi in the boys' category, Narendra Kumar Nella shone with a commanding victory. The Indian contingent continues to showcase its emerging talent and depth in the sport, marking a successful outing at the continental level.
 

Indian Boxers Excel with Impressive Victories

The U-17 girls' boxing team from India has showcased remarkable talent at the Asian Boxing U15 & U17 Championships 2026, securing 12 medals and demonstrating their prowess on the continental stage in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.


According to a statement from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), Rakhi (46kg) led the team with a decisive 5:0 win against her opponent from Chinese Taipei. Khushi (48kg) also made headlines with an aggressive first-round RSC victory over Korea. Mamta (52kg) contributed to the medal tally with a strong RSC win in the second round against Jordan.


Outstanding Performances and Further Wins

Other notable performances included Laxmi (54kg), who achieved a third-round RSC victory over Mongolia, and Navya (57kg), who dominated her match against a Chinese competitor with a 5:0 win. Ishika (60kg) maintained the momentum by securing an RSC win in the second round against Mongolia.


The Indian team continued to impress with several emphatic finishes in later bouts. Harnoor (66kg) and Himanshi (70kg) both claimed first-round RSC victories against Chinese Taipei, while Jyoti (75kg) advanced due to a disqualification win over Turkmenistan. Gurseerat (80+kg) capped off the day with a solid 4:0 victory against Kazakhstan.


Setback and Success in Boys' Category

The only setback for the Indian team came when Ovi (50kg) faced a closely fought match but lost narrowly with a score of 2:3 against Uzbekistan.


In the boys' category, Narendra Kumar Nella (44-46kg) delivered an impressive performance with a commanding RSC victory, further enhancing India's strong showing across various divisions.


With 12 medals secured and a series of dominant performances highlighted by RSC victories, the Indian contingent is proving its depth and emerging talent at the Asian level.
