The president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), PT Usha, extended her congratulations to wushu competitor Roshibina Devi and rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan for their remarkable performances at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday.

Roshibina Devi's Silver Medal Triumph

Roshibina Devi clinched her second consecutive silver medal in the women's sanda 60 kg final, narrowly losing to China's Zhang Xiaoyu. Earlier in the day, the duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final.

PT Usha's Praise for Roshibina

In a post on X, PT Usha commended Roshibina for her dedication to the sport, noting that her historic third medal underscores her commitment. Having previously won a bronze at the 2018 Asian Games, Roshibina has now become the first Indian woman to achieve three consecutive medals in Wushu at the Asian Games. Usha expressed her pride, stating, "Congratulations to Roshibina Devi on winning another silver in the 60kg category in Wushu! Your historic 3rd medal has proved your dedication for the sport. Roshibina's Journey to Silver

Roshibina, who also earned a silver medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, faced tough competition, losing both rounds by a score of 0-5. Her impressive journey included a victory over the 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam. In the semi-finals, she defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 to secure her spot in the final.

India has now secured a total of 14 medals at the ongoing Asian Games, including one gold, six silvers, and seven bronzes.

Rowing Performance Overview

In rowing, Satnam and Salman finished with a time of 6:13.25, placing them just behind the gold medalists Yi Xudi and Nie Yide from China, and the silver medalists Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin. They maintained a strong position throughout the race but fell back in the final stretch. In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar finished fourth, having initially held a strong position but ultimately losing ground in the last 500 meters.
