Indian Athletes Honored in Rajya Sabha for Commonwealth Games Success

In a recent session of the Rajya Sabha, Indian athletes were honored for their exceptional performance at the 23rd Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow. The Chairman praised their achievements, highlighting India's impressive fourth place in the medal tally with a total of 39 medals, including 13 gold. The para-athletes also made history with their best performance, winning seven medals. This recognition serves as an inspiration for future generations of athletes in India, emphasizing the values of hard work and determination.
 

Celebrating India's Triumph at the Commonwealth Games

New Delhi, August 3 - Indian athletes who excelled at the recently concluded 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow received accolades in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. As the session commenced, Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan congratulated the Indian contingent for their remarkable achievements, stating that their success has brought pride to the nation. He highlighted that India secured an impressive fourth position in the medal tally of the Commonwealth Games.


The athletes collectively won 39 medals, comprising 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze. He remarked, “Our para-athletes also made history by achieving their best performance ever at the Commonwealth Para Games, securing seven medals, including three gold, two silver, and two bronze. This is a remarkable achievement that brings immense pride and honor to our country, showcasing the continuous excellence of Indian athletes.”


The Chairman extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the house and himself to all athletes, coaches, support staff, the Indian Olympic Association, the Indian Paralympic Committee, and national sports federations. He stated, “Our medal winners will serve as an inspiration not only for emerging sports talents in the country but for every young Indian. They exemplify the message of achieving excellence through hard work, discipline, determination, and relentless effort.” He expressed the house's wishes for a bright future and ongoing success for the country's athletes, hoping they will bring even more glory to India in the years to come.
