Successful Defense Against Drone Intrusions

Jammu, Jan 12: The Indian Army effectively countered several drone intrusion attempts originating from Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials reported that vigilant Army personnel detected drone activity late Sunday night in the Naushera sector of Rajouri district.

The troops promptly engaged the drones using counter-unmanned aerial systems, compelling them to retreat beyond the LoC. Fortunately, there were no reports of damage or casualties.

At least five drone sightings were noted along the International Border and the LoC, with suspected Pakistan Army drones conducting reconnaissance in sensitive border regions. Several of these drones were specifically observed in the Naushera–Rajouri area.

"Army units acted quickly by implementing standard counter-drone protocols, effectively averting any intrusion," officials stated, emphasizing that the armed forces are on high alert in the forward areas of Rajouri and surrounding sectors.

Surveillance and monitoring efforts along the LoC and the International Border have been intensified to deter any future incursions. "The situation is being closely monitored, with defense agencies maintaining heightened vigilance to protect territorial integrity and thwart hostile actions," officials added.

Security agencies noted that terror groups, with backing from Pakistan's ISI, frequently utilize drones to smuggle weapons, cash, and narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir to support terrorist operations. These items are usually dropped at predetermined locations and later collected by overground workers and couriers for delivery to terrorists.

Extensive deployment of anti-drone technology along the LoC and the International Border in the Union Territory has significantly diminished the success rate of such drone infiltration attempts.
