New Delhi, Sep 7: Recently, the Indian and Chinese military forces assessed the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh, shortly after Special Representative discussions took place in Beijing regarding the ongoing boundary issues.

The corps commander-level discussions were held at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in the Kibithoo area of Arunachal Pradesh, with an emphasis on ensuring peace and stability along the border, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Leading the Indian delegation was Lt General Girish Kalia, who commands the Army's 3 Corps based in Dimapur. There has been no official statement released regarding the outcomes of these talks.

This meeting occurred against a backdrop of reports indicating assertive military movements by Chinese forces in the Upper Subansiri region of Arunachal Pradesh.

During the Special Representative talks on August 25, India stressed to China the necessity of maintaining peace and stability along the border to foster overall bilateral relations.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval engaged in discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, focusing on boundary delimitation and enhancing trans-boundary cooperation.

Doval remarked that the normalization of relations has been a direct outcome of both nations upholding peace and stability in border regions.

The Indian delegation underscored the significance of preserving peace and tranquility in the India-China border areas for the ongoing development of their bilateral relationship, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) following the SR talks.

Both Doval and Wang serve as designated Special Representatives for the boundary negotiation framework, which was initiated in 2003 to comprehensively address the India-China border dispute that spans 3,488 kilometers.

In recent months, both nations have implemented various measures to mend their relationship, which had been severely tested following the violent clashes in Galwan Valley in 2020.
