India's Impressive Bowling Performance
In the opening T20I match held in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, the Indian women's cricket team showcased a remarkable bowling effort, limiting Sri Lanka to a total of 121 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Winning the toss, the Indian bowlers effectively controlled the game despite a few fielding errors, including several dropped catches. Notably, three Sri Lankan players were run out during the innings. Kranti Gaud, Deepti Sharma, and Shree Charani each claimed a wicket, maintaining pressure on the Sri Lankan batting lineup. Vishmi Gunaratne emerged as the top scorer for Sri Lanka, contributing 39 runs off 43 deliveries, but struggled to accelerate before being dismissed in the 17.5th over.
Challenges for Sri Lanka's Batting Lineup
Sri Lanka faced an early challenge when their captain, Chamari Athapaththu, was the first to be dismissed, scoring 15 runs before being bowled out by Kranti Gaud with the team's score at 18.
During the powerplay, Sri Lanka managed to reach 31 runs for the loss of one wicket, averaging less than six runs per over.
Hasini Perera followed Athapaththu to the pavilion, scoring 20 runs off 23 balls, falling to Deepti Sharma in the 9.1 over.
Despite reaching 50 runs in 9.3 overs, the visitors struggled to boost their scoring rate.
Harshitha Samarawickrama also found it difficult to score freely, managing only 21 runs off 23 balls, including two boundaries.
Sri Lanka finally crossed the 100-run mark in the 17.4 over, but faced further setbacks with Nilakshika Silva and Kavisha Dilhari both being run out.

Deepti Sharma stood out among the bowlers, delivering an economical performance with figures of 1 wicket for 20 runs in her four overs, which included a maiden over.
Kranti Gaud concluded her spell with 1 wicket for 23 runs from three overs, while Shree Charani took one wicket but conceded 30 runs in her four overs.
