India Wins Silver in Women's 10m Air Rifle Team Event at Asian Games
India's Silver Medal Achievement
India clinched the silver medal in the women's 10m air rifle team event during the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The team, consisting of Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar, and Vidarsa Vinod, marked the country's first medal at this year's Games.
Vidarsa's Reflections on Performance
Vidarsa Vinod, who secured 9th place in the individual qualifying and team final, expressed her gratitude for the chance to compete at the Asian Games. She felt satisfied with her performance, stating that she gave her best effort. The Indian team achieved a total score of 1898 points, finishing second to China.
Managing Pressure at the Games
Initially anticipating pressure, Vidarsa managed to stay calm by treating the event like any other competition. She emphasized the importance of adhering to her usual routine, which allowed her to relax and enjoy the experience. "I feel great to have participated in the Asian Games. Competing in the 10-meter air rifle event today was fulfilling, and I’m pleased with my performance," she shared.
Preparation and Training Camps
Vidarsa attributed her calm demeanor to the thorough preparation and training camps held in Delhi prior to the tournament. The focus during these camps was on enjoyment rather than pressure, which helped her feel both mentally and physically ready for the competition. "The team never puts pressure on us. They prepared us well, and the camps were designed to help us enjoy the competition and perform our best," she noted.
Overcoming Initial Challenges
Vidarsa also mentioned that the team encountered some logistical issues regarding accommodation and arrangements on the first day of the Asian Games. However, she reported that these issues have been resolved, with transportation and lodging now adequately arranged. "The first day was challenging due to high expectations, but everything has improved since then. We now have transportation sorted, and the accommodation is satisfactory," she concluded.
