India's Call for Restraint Amidst Regional Tensions

New Delhi: On Saturday, India expressed significant concern regarding the escalating situation in Iran and the Gulf area, urging all parties involved to maintain restraint, prevent further escalation, and prioritize civilian safety.

A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized, "India is deeply troubled by the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We call on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritize the safety of civilians. Dialogue and diplomacy should be the path forward to de-escalate tensions and address the underlying issues. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations must be upheld."

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that Indian missions in the region are actively communicating with Indian citizens and have issued advisories urging them to remain vigilant, maintain contact with the missions, and adhere to local security protocols.

Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Tehran advised its nationals to exercise extreme caution, limit unnecessary movements, and stay indoors as much as possible due to the evolving situation.

The advisory also encouraged Indians to stay updated with the news, remain aware of their surroundings, and await further instructions from the Embassy.

As regional tensions heightened, the Indian Embassy in Doha released an important advisory, urging Indian nationals in Qatar to take necessary precautions and stay informed through updates from the Embassy and local authorities.

The advisory stated, "In light of the current regional circumstances, all Indian nationals in Qatar are advised to exercise caution, follow news updates, and heed advisories from the Embassy and local authorities. Our Embassy continues to operate normally."

Furthermore, it requested everyone to adhere to emergency alerts from local authorities, advising them to avoid military sites and remain indoors unless absolutely necessary to minimize exposure to risks.

The Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also issued an urgent advisory, recommending that Indian nationals avoid non-essential travel, remain vigilant, and follow safety guidelines as directed by UAE authorities and the Embassy.

The advisory confirmed that the Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai are functioning normally and will provide updates as needed, urging Indian nationals to reach out via toll-free and WhatsApp numbers in case of emergencies.

In a related development, US President Donald Trump announced early Saturday that US forces are conducting a "massive and ongoing" operation against Iran aimed at "destroying their missiles and obliterating their missile industry."

In a video message shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, he stated, "The United States military is engaged in a massive and ongoing operation... We are determined to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground."
