New Delhi, Jan 13: India has officially introduced the website, theme, and logo for the upcoming BRICS 2026 summit, which will be held under its leadership.

During the launch event, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that India is committed to a people-centric approach for its BRICS chairmanship, aiming to harness the collective strengths of member nations for enhanced global welfare.

According to an official statement, the theme for India's BRICS chairmanship is 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability', which reflects a focus on humanity and was articulated by the Prime Minister during the 2025 Rio Summit.

Jaishankar highlighted that this theme underscores the necessity of enhancing capacities, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable development for the benefit of all.

The newly launched website will serve as a hub for updates on BRICS initiatives and events during India's presidency, while the logo symbolizes a blend of tradition and modernity.

"The logo encapsulates the three fundamental pillars of BRICS—Political and Security cooperation, Economic and Financial partnerships, and People-to-People exchanges—conveying a message of inclusivity, dialogue, and shared growth. This design aligns with the broader vision of BRICS for cooperation, sustainable development, and global harmony," the statement elaborated.

In extending greetings for Makar Sankranti, Lohri, Magh Bihu, and Pongal, the External Affairs Minister remarked, "These festivals embody hope, renewal, and goodwill, and similarly, India's BRICS chairmanship aims to unite the collective potential of BRICS nations for enhanced global welfare. As we prepare for our role in 2026, it marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of this grouping."

He noted that 2026 will mark the 20th anniversary of BRICS, which has progressively become a vital platform for collaboration among emerging markets and developing economies.

"The current global landscape is fraught with complex challenges, including geopolitical uncertainties, intricate economic conditions, climate risks, technological advancements, and ongoing development disparities affecting nations worldwide," he stated.

Emphasizing India's strategy for its BRICS chairmanship, Jaishankar remarked, "In this context, BRICS serves as a crucial forum that promotes dialogue, cooperation, and practical solutions, considering the national priorities of countries at various stages of development. Our approach is guided by a humanity-first and people-centric philosophy inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi."

BRICS comprises eleven significant emerging markets and developing nations: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

BRIC was formalized during the inaugural meeting of BRIC Foreign Ministers at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York back in 2006.
