India U19's Commanding Performance in Benoni

In a remarkable display of skill, India U19 triumphed over South Africa U19 by a staggering 233 runs in the third Youth ODI held in Benoni, successfully sealing the series with a clean sweep of 3-0.

The Indian team set a formidable target, scoring 393 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Their bowlers then executed a disciplined performance, restricting the South African batsmen and dismissing them for just 160 runs in 35 overs.

Bowling Excellence Leads to Victory

Kishan Singh was the standout bowler, achieving impressive figures of 3 wickets for 15 runs in four overs, effectively dismantling the top order. Mohammed Enaan also contributed significantly with 2 wickets for 36 runs, while captain Vaibhav Sooryavanshi added to the tally with 1 wicket for just 10 runs in two overs.

South Africa's choice to bat second proved detrimental as they faced immediate pressure. Opener Jorich van Schalkwyk fell for just 1 run, becoming Singh's first victim. Singh continued his onslaught by dismissing Lethabo Phahlamohlaka for a duck, and Henil Patel took out Muhammed Bulbulia for 4 runs. Adnaan Lagadien, van Schalkwyk's partner, was also dismissed cheaply for 9 runs, leaving South Africa struggling at 4 wickets for 15 runs within the first five overs.

South Africa's Struggles and India's Dominance

Despite reaching 50 runs in 10.1 overs, South Africa's innings faltered quickly. Jason Rowles managed to score 19 runs before being dismissed, while Daniel Bosman attempted to stabilize the innings with a score of 40 off 60 balls, only to be dismissed by RS Ambrish. Paul James emerged as the top scorer for South Africa with 41 runs off 49 balls before being dismissed by Enaan.

India maintained relentless pressure throughout the middle overs, wrapping up the last three wickets for a mere 23 runs. Captain Sooryavanshi claimed the final wicket, dismissing Ntando Soni for 6 runs, thereby sealing a comprehensive victory.

Sooryavanshi and George Shine with the Bat

Earlier in the match, India U19's openers, Aaron George and captain Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, both scored centuries, propelling the team to a total of 393 runs for 7 wickets in their innings.

Sooryavanshi has been a standout performer throughout the series, amassing 206 runs at an average of 68.66 and a strike rate exceeding 187, including one century and one fifty.

After winning the toss, South Africa opted to field first. India capitalized on this decision, with George and Sooryavanshi forming an unbeaten opening partnership of 227 runs. Sooryavanshi scored 127 runs off 74 balls, while George contributed 118 runs off 106 balls, including 10 fours.

Although India faced a collapse to 335 runs for 7 wickets in 43.2 overs, a late partnership between Mohamed Enaan (28* off 19 balls) and Henil Patel (19* off 21 balls) helped push the score into the 390s.
