India Secures Victory Against Myanmar U17

On Tuesday, the India U17 men's national football team achieved a 2-1 victory against Myanmar U17 at the Thwunna Stadium in Yangon. The match marked their first friendly encounter, with Washington Singh Ngangom scoring the opening goal in the 11th minute, followed by Gunleiba Wangkheirakpam's goal in the 24th minute. Although Myanmar's Myint Myat Ko Ko found the net in the 54th minute, India managed to maintain their lead and secure the win, as reported by the AIFF.

Strong First Half Performance by the Blue Colts

India's strategy relied heavily on counterattacks, which proved effective in breaking through Myanmar's defense. Gunleiba was instrumental on the left wing, assisting Washington's goal by delivering a precise pass after a swift counterattack. Washington capitalized on the opportunity, slotting the ball past the goalkeeper into the near post.

In the 24th minute, Gunleiba transitioned from a playmaker to a scorer. After receiving a well-timed through ball from captain Dallalmoun Gangte, he maneuvered behind the Myanmar defense and, despite the tight angle, successfully found the side-netting to extend India's lead.

Myanmar's Attempted Comeback

In the second half, Myanmar sought to regain control of the match and managed to score from a set piece. Captain Ant Htoo Paing delivered a long-range free-kick into the Indian penalty area, where Myint headed the ball into the net.

Despite this setback, India held firm and celebrated their first win in Myanmar, as they gear up for the upcoming AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for later this year.
