India-Sri Lanka ODI Match Relocated to Visakhapatnam
Change of Venue for the ODI Match
New Delhi. The first One Day International (ODI) cricket match between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled for December 13, will now take place in Visakhapatnam instead of Delhi. This decision was made due to potential weather disruptions, high air pollution levels, and ongoing renovation work at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital.
Typically, air pollution levels in Delhi are quite high during this time of year, and the outfield at Arun Jaitley Stadium is currently undergoing refurbishment. Considering these factors, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) formally requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to relocate the match.
The BCCI announced in an official statement that the venue change was decided upon the DDCA's request, taking into account the possible weather issues and the planned renovation work at the stadium. The match will now be held at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The date of the match remains unchanged and will still occur on December 13 as originally scheduled.
The Indian cricket team is set to play a bilateral series against Sri Lanka next month, featuring three ODIs and three T20 internationals. The second ODI will take place in Bengaluru on December 18, followed by the third and final ODI in Ahmedabad on December 19.
Following this, the Indian team will conclude the year with a T20 international series. The three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka is scheduled from December 22 to December 27, taking place in Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune. Currently, the Indian team is on a tour of New Zealand, where they are playing an ODI series, followed by a two-match Test series.
