Strong Start for India at BOXAM Elite International

Spain, Feb 4: India kicked off its participation at the BOXAM Elite International 2026 with remarkable performances on the inaugural day of the event, which features 214 boxers from 21 nations.

Leading the charge for India were World Boxing Cup Finals champions Hitesh Gulia (70kg) and Preeti (54kg), both of whom secured impressive victories, contributing to India's success across various weight categories.

Hitesh showcased his skills in the elite men’s 70kg category, achieving a decisive 5:0 win over Finn Bos from the Netherlands. His calm demeanor and strategic approach allowed him to dominate the match from start to finish. Meanwhile, Preeti asserted her authority in the elite women’s 54kg division, winning 5:0 against Kazakhstan’s Aliaskar Symbat, combining sharp offensive moves with solid defense to outclass her rival.

The Indian women's team continued to excel, with Prachi (57kg), Priya (60kg), and Kajal (65kg) all advancing confidently. Prachi and Priya both recorded 5:0 victories against Spain’s Vanesa Morell Ramirez and Canada’s Alessia Mansuetto, respectively, while Kajal secured a narrow 4:1 win over Kazakhstan’s Assem Tanatar.

In the men's events, India maintained its momentum with strong performances. Sachin (60kg) easily defeated Spain’s Brandon Alejandro 5:0, while Mohammed Hussam Uddin (60kg) narrowly triumphed over Denmark’s Matias Mehmet Buyukdemir with a score of 4:1. Abhinash Jamwal (65kg) also delivered a clean 5:0 victory against Denmark’s Qalid Osman, and Deepak (70kg) won 4:1 against Belgium’s Hornel Ayitevi. Akash (75kg) and Ankush (80kg) advanced with 4:1 wins, although Aditya Pratap Yadav (65kg) faced elimination after a challenging match against England’s Joe Turner.
