India's Medal Success at Commonwealth Games 2026

On Saturday, India celebrated a remarkable day at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with athletes excelling in boxing, athletics, para athletics, and judo, significantly boosting the nation's medal count.


Boxing Achievements

Indian boxers showcased their prowess, securing seven gold medals and three silver medals. Notable victories included Sakshi Chaudhary, who triumphed over England's Ruby White to win gold in the women's 51kg division. Preeti Pawar also claimed gold by defeating Canada's Scarlett Savannah Delgado in the women's 54kg category. Jaismine Lamboria won gold in the women's 57kg after overcoming Northern Ireland's Michaela Walsh, while Priya Ghanghas clinched gold in the women's 60kg by defeating Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh. Arundhati Choudhary added to the tally by winning the women's 70kg category against England's Chantelle Reid. In men's boxing, Sachin Siwach secured gold in the 60kg category by defeating Namibia's Tryagain Morning Ndevelo, and Ankush Panghal won the men's 80kg gold against England's Dimeji Shittu.


However, Lovlina Borgohain, Jadumani Singh, and Narender Berwal had to settle for silver medals after losing in their finals. Lovlina was defeated by Australia's Emma Sue Greentree in the women's 75kg final, while Jadumani lost to Australia's Jye Dixon in the men's 55kg final, and Narender fell to England's Damar Thomas in the men's 90+kg final.


Medals in Athletics and Judo

In para athletics, Soman Rana achieved gold and Shubham Juyal earned silver in the men's F57 shot put event. The athletics segment also contributed two medals, with Praveen Chithravel winning silver and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran taking bronze in the men's triple jump. Additionally, Gulveer Singh secured a bronze in the men's 5000m final.


In judo, Unnati Sharma claimed bronze by defeating South Africa's Skye Knoester in the women's -63kg category. Harsh Tokas faced a setback, losing to Australia's Keishin Ochi in the men's -81kg bronze medal match after advancing through the repechage.


Mixed Results for Other Athletes

Other Indian athletes experienced varied outcomes across different events. Karanjit Singh Maan and Inunganbi Takhellambam were eliminated in their judo repechage matches, while track cyclists David Beckham, Ronaldo Singh, and Rojit Singh did not advance past the men's sprint qualification. In para athletics, Ramesh Shanmugam finished seventh in the men's 1500m T54, and Priyanka Goswami placed fourth in the women's 10,000m race walk, with Ravina Gayakwad facing disqualification. Dinesh Kumar and Harshveer Singh Sekhon did not finish the men's 10km scratch race qualifying event, and the men's pairs team of Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar was eliminated by England in bowls. Nayanmoni Saikia also exited the women's singles sectional play after losing to South Africa's Bridget Herselman.


In athletics, Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar finished outside the medal positions in the men's pole vault final, while the Indian mixed 4x400m relay team, consisting of Vishal TK, Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur, and Neeru Pathak, finished in sixth place.
