India Shines at Asian Games with Multiple Medals in Athletics

India's athletics team made a remarkable impact at the Asian Games, securing multiple medals including silver and bronze in events like high jump, long jump, and decathlon. Sarvesh Kushare and Parul Chaudhary led the charge with impressive performances, while Ancy Sojan and Tejaswin Shankar also contributed to the medal tally. This success highlights India's growing prowess in athletics on an international stage.
 

Kushare and Parul Boost India's Medal Count

On Sunday, India enhanced its athletics medal tally at the Asian Games, with Sarvesh Kushare earning a silver in the men's high jump and Parul Chaudhary taking home a bronze in the women's 3000m steeplechase in Aichi-Nagoya. Kushare successfully cleared a height of 2.25m, securing second place in the men's high jump final. Fu Chao-hsuan from Chinese Taipei also cleared 2.25m but won the gold, while South Korea's Woo Sanghyeok achieved bronze with a jump of 2.22m. In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Parul delivered a personal best of 9:08.67 to earn the bronze medal. Bahrain's Winfred Yavi clinched gold with a time of 9:04.36, and Kazakhstan's Norah Jeruto Tanui took silver at 9:06.82. These two medals further highlighted India's strong performance in athletics at the ongoing continental event.


Ancy Sojan Achieves Silver in Long Jump

India's Ancy Sojan secured a silver medal in the women's long jump final at the Asian Games, achieving a best jump of 6.53m in Aichi-Nagoya. She narrowly missed the gold by just two centimeters, as China's Huang Yingying won with a jump of 6.55m. Another Chinese competitor, Tan Mengyi, claimed bronze with a jump of 6.46m, while India's Shaili Singh finished fourth with a best effort of 6.42m.


Tejaswin Shankar Wins Bronze in Decathlon

Tejaswin Shankar from India earned a bronze medal in the decathlon at the Asian Games, amassing a total of 7,934 points. Japan's Yuma Maruyama took home the gold with 8,123 points, while China's Chen Xinghua secured silver with 8,012 points. Shankar aimed to replicate his silver medal performance from the previous Asian Games but ultimately settled for bronze after a commendable overall showing. His total of 7,934 points also marked an improvement from his last performance at the Asian Games, having previously crossed the 8,000-point threshold earlier this year.
