On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Indian chess team for their impressive performance at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand. The team earned a silver medal in the Open category and a bronze in the women's division.

PM Modi expressed his admiration on social media, stating, "Congratulations to our Chess players! Their passion and determination are exemplary. May these successes motivate several more youngsters to play chess and excel."

India Retains Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy

India successfully defended the esteemed Nona Gaprindashvili Trophy, awarded for the best overall performance in both the Open and Women's sections of the Chess Olympiad. This marks the third consecutive time India has won this trophy, following victories in the 2022 Olympiad in Chennai and the 2024 edition in Budapest, where they secured gold in both categories.

Outstanding Individual Performances
