India Set to Host Formula 1 Races by 2027

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that India is set to host Formula 1 races by 2027. On Monday, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that India is on track to host Formula 1 races by 2027. He mentioned that a meeting with relevant authorities and stakeholders will take place within the next six months to discuss this initiative.


Reviving the Indian Grand Prix

Recent discussions have surfaced about the government's interest in reinstating Formula 1 at the Buddh International Circuit, nearly thirteen years after the last event was held there. Earlier this year, sources from the Sports Ministry indicated that the Greater Noida circuit could soon welcome back Formula 1 races.


Minister's Visit to Buddh International Circuit

Mandaviya's recent visit to the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida hints at plans to revive the Indian Grand Prix, which previously took place from 2011 to 2013.


Future Plans for Formula 1

During an informal gathering with reporters, Mandaviya expressed optimism about restarting Formula 1 in India, stating, "We want to start Formula 1 again soon. We are in talks. We will surely have Formula 1 in 2027. In the next six months, we have a meeting on this soon. Because of the war in the Gulf countries, they feel India is a safe country. We need to make it viable."


2026 Formula 1 Season Update

The 2026 Formula 1 season commenced with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 8, following pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 11 to 20.
