India has clinched three medals at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, with Nikhat Zareen, Priya, and Preeti Pawar achieving remarkable victories to reach the semifinals on the fifth day of the event held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Nikhat Zareen Dominates Her Match
Nikhat Zareen led the Indian team with an impressive performance in the women's 51kg quarterfinal, where she secured a first-round RSC victory against Xian Baguhin from the Philippines. She is now set to face a significant challenge against Wu Yu of China, the gold medallist from the Paris 2024 Olympics, in the semifinals.
Priya's Tactical Brilliance
In the women's 60kg division, Priya demonstrated her tactical skills and composure, winning against Chengyu Yang of China with a score of 4-1. She will compete against Mongolia's Namuun Monkhor for a chance to reach the finals.
Preeti Pawar's Stellar Performance
Preeti Pawar, who previously won gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals, showcased an exceptional performance in the women's 54kg category, defeating Munguntsetseng from Mongolia with a unanimous 5-0 decision. She is now preparing to face Im Aeji from Korea, a bronze medallist at both the Paris 2024 Olympics and the 2025 World Championships, in what is expected to be an exciting semifinal.
Deepak's Exit from the Competition
In the men's 70kg category, Deepak was eliminated after a 1-4 loss to Zeyad Eashash from Jordan in the quarterfinals.
