The Indian women's cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, celebrated a remarkable victory by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup held in Dubai on Sunday. This win marks India's eighth title in the tournament.

The opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set the tone with a record partnership of 129 runs for the first wicket. Shafali was particularly aggressive, scoring 68 runs off 39 balls, while Mandhana contributed 59 runs off 39 deliveries, propelling India to a formidable total. In her post-match comments, Harmanpreet Kaur emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards, regardless of the opposition's quality. She praised the performance of her team, especially the openers, stating, "We know they are a great team. But we played to our standards. G Kamalini, an 18-year-old player, expressed her disbelief at the achievement, crediting senior players for their guidance. She noted, "It's a different feeling. I still can't digest it.
