India's Commitment to Africa

New Delhi, August 5 - On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that Africa is a key partner for India and a top priority. He stated that whether discussing a multipolar world order or evolving multilateralism, the continent deserves its rightful place.

Speaking at an event commemorating Africa Day 2026, Jaishankar noted that India maintains ongoing communication with the African Union and is eager to reschedule the postponed 'India-Africa Forum Summit' (IAFS-4).

He remarked, “Earlier this year, we were prepared to host African leadership at the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit. Unfortunately, the summit had to be postponed due to the Ebola virus outbreak. The decision to delay was made collaboratively with our partners in the African Union.”

The Minister added, “We are in constant touch with the African Union and look forward to finding a suitable opportunity to hold IAFS-4 as soon as possible for both parties.”
