India Launches Its First All-Electric Green Tugboat

Historic Milestone for India's Maritime Sector

In a significant development for India's maritime industry, the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, virtually inaugurated the steel cutting ceremony for the country's first all-electric green tugboat under the Green Tug Transition Program (GTTP) at the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla. This initiative aligns with the 'Make in India, Make for the World' vision, as the all-electric tug will feature a bollard pull capacity of 60 tons, ensuring silent operations, zero carbon emissions, and maximum efficiency. This next-generation tug is set to establish new standards in sustainable maritime operations.

During the event, the minister expressed his delight at the commencement of the construction process for India's first green tug.
