Government Advisory for Indian Nationals in Iran

New Delhi. In light of the deteriorating situation in West Asia, the Indian government has released a new advisory for its citizens residing in Iran. The Indian embassy in Iran has explicitly urged all Indian nationals to leave the country as soon as possible.

The embassy's latest guidance emphasizes that citizens should only use designated safe and authorized routes for their departure. Additionally, it has warned against attempting to approach any international borders without the embassy's permission and coordination.

Stay in Contact with the Embassy
The advisory stresses the importance of maintaining contact with the embassy throughout the journey. Emergency helpline numbers and email addresses have been provided for immediate assistance in case of any urgent situations.

Previous Advisory to Remain in Safe Locations
Earlier, on Tuesday evening, the embassy had advised Indians to stay in secure locations for 48 hours due to the heightened risk of attacks in the region, which had made the situation extremely sensitive. Reports indicated that during this time, U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that serious military action could follow if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened within a specified timeframe, further escalating regional tensions.

How Many Indians Are in Iran?
According to official figures, approximately 9,000 Indians were present in Iran when the conflict began on February 28. This group includes students, workers, and professionals. So far, around 1,800 Indians have safely returned to India, while efforts continue for the safe return of the remaining citizens.

Vigilance Despite Ceasefire
Recently, a two-week ceasefire was announced between the U.S. and Iran; however, the government does not consider the situation entirely safe. As a precaution, Indians have been advised to leave the country. The conflict, which began on February 28, has resulted in ongoing tensions in the region following joint attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel. The circumstances remain uncertain, raising concerns about the safety of citizens.

Appeal from the Indian Government
The Indian government has urged all citizens to remain vigilant, avoid rumors, and rely solely on information from official sources.
