The Indian U-18 Men's Hockey Team commenced its journey in the U-18 Asia Cup 2026 with an impressive 13-0 triumph over Kazakhstan in Kakamigahara, Japan, on Friday, competing in Pool A. Captain Ketan Kushwaha showcased his leadership by scoring three goals, while teammates Prahalad Rajbhar, Ashish Tani Purti, Ansh Bahutra, and Shahrukh Ali each netted two goals, as per an official announcement.

From the beginning, India asserted its dominance, and after Kazakhstan initially held firm, the breakthrough came when Shahrukh Ali (12') unleashed a powerful shot from within the circle. Just two minutes later, Prahalad Rajbhar (14') doubled the lead, establishing a solid advantage for India by the end of the first quarter.
Second Quarter Sees Goal Surge
The second quarter was marked by a flurry of goals. Captain Kushwaha (18') capitalized on a close-range opportunity after India regained possession high on the field, followed by Gazee Khan (20') who added a fourth goal shortly thereafter. India maintained its relentless attack, with Shahrukh (29') scoring his second and Purti (30') converting a penalty corner, leading to a commanding 6-0 score at halftime.
Third Quarter Dominance
The third quarter was particularly fruitful, with four of India's five goals coming from penalty corners. Bahutra (31', 44') scored twice, while Purti also completed his brace. In the final minute of this quarter, Kushwaha netted two quick goals, including one from a penalty corner, completing his hat-trick and leaving India with an 11-0 lead.
Final Quarter Seals the Victory
In the last quarter, the Indian team continued to apply pressure, culminating in a resounding victory. Akash Deep (47') scored by tapping the ball into an open goal, followed by Rajbhar, who added his second goal in the 51st minute.
