India Defends Arms Exports Amid Amnesty International Allegations

India's Stance on Arms Exports

The Ministry of External Affairs stated on Friday that all exports of dual-use items from India comply with national laws and international obligations. The ministry dismissed allegations from Amnesty International, which claimed that despite the risk of these items being used in war crimes in Gaza, New Delhi continues to supply weapons to Israel. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized, “India has a robust legal and regulatory framework for strategic trade controls.”

He further noted, “We export dual-use goods and technologies to various countries in accordance with our national laws and international commitments.” Amnesty International has long called for a halt to the direct or indirect supply, sale, or transfer of arms and military equipment to Israel. In a report released on Wednesday, the organization accused Indian companies of exporting weapons or dual-use items to Israel, despite warnings that the Israeli military could use them in “crimes against humanity” in Gaza. The human rights monitoring group urged India and Indian companies to immediately cease supplying weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment to Israel.
