India Condemns Attacks on UAE, Calls for Immediate Cessation of Hostilities

New Delhi, May 5: On Tuesday, India expressed its condemnation regarding the recent attacks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which resulted in injuries to three Indian citizens. The nation urged for an immediate halt to hostilities and the targeting of civilians and their infrastructure.
On Monday, local time, three Indian nationals sustained injuries during the assaults in Fujairah, with the UAE attributing responsibility to Iran.
The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement declaring, "The attack on Fujairah that led to injuries among three Indian nationals is intolerable. We demand an immediate end to these hostilities and the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent lives."
Additionally, the statement emphasized India's commitment to dialogue and diplomacy to address the Gulf situation, aiming to restore peace and stability throughout West Asia.
"We advocate for unrestricted navigation and trade through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law. India is prepared to support all initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to these issues," the MEA noted.
Earlier on Monday, the Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed that it was coordinating with local authorities to ensure proper medical assistance and welfare for the injured nationals.
"Three Indian nationals were injured in the attacks in Fujairah today. We are liaising with local authorities to guarantee adequate medical care and support for the affected individuals," the Embassy stated.
In response, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the "renewed unprovoked Iranian aggression" involving missiles and drones, confirming that the attacks resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals due to strikes on civilian sites.
The Ministry characterized Iran's actions as an "unacceptable act of aggression" and a "direct threat to the UAE's security, stability, and territorial integrity." It asserted that these attacks violate international law and the United Nations Charter.
The UAE emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any threats to its security and sovereignty, asserting its right to respond to these unprovoked attacks to protect its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors, in line with international law.
It called for an immediate cessation of these attacks and full compliance with the cessation of hostilities.
"The UAE holds Iran fully accountable for these unprovoked attacks and their consequences," the statement concluded.
