Celebrations for Team India's Historic Win

The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Mithun Manhas, along with President Droupadi Murmu and YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, praised Team India for their remarkable achievement in securing back-to-back gold medals in men's cricket at the Asian Games.


In a historic moment, Team India achieved a double gold in cricket. Following the women's team's victory, the men's squad triumphed over Pakistan by 19 runs in the gold medal match held on Saturday, thanks to stellar performances from Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, and Axar Patel.


Manhas expressed his congratulations on X, stating, "A heartfelt congratulations to our incredible Indian team for bringing home the Gold at the Asian Games. By far the best team of the tournament. And what better honour than to have Jay Shah ji present the medals, given his contribution to the growth of Indian cricket @BCCI and his role at the @ICC #Gold for India."


President Murmu also commended the men's team, saying they filled "every Indian heart with immense joy and pride." Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Team India, stating, "Heartiest congratulations to Team India on a magnificent victory over Pakistan in the Asian Games final! Special congratulations to our Telugu star Tilak Varma for his brilliant match-winning 51*. A proud moment for all of us! Congratulations, Team India, on winning the Asian Games gold medal!"


Match Summary: India vs Pakistan

India chose to bat first after winning the toss. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's quickfire 15 runs off nine balls, including two sixes, was short-lived. However, Abhishek Sharma shone with an explosive 61 runs off 28 balls, hitting three fours and seven sixes. Ishan Kishan (20) and captain Shreyas Iyer (21) provided stability, setting the stage for Tilak Verma, who scored an unbeaten 51 runs off 22 balls, including three fours and four sixes, and Shivam Dube, who contributed 27 runs off 15 balls. Together, they propelled India to a total of 211/6, with a crucial 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket.


In response, Pakistan struggled early, finding themselves at 39/3. However, Hasan Nawaz fought valiantly, scoring 96 runs off 51 balls, with five fours and seven sixes. Ultimately, Pakistan finished at 192/6. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar delivered impressive bowling performances, with figures of 2/29 and Shivam Dube taking 2/33.
