Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, honored the medallists from India's World Junior Squash Championship 2026. This included the gold medalist Anahat Singh and the bronze-winning Indian men's junior team comprising Aryaveer Dewan, Yusha Nafees, and Gurveer Singh.

Anahat Singh's Groundbreaking Achievement

At just 18 years old, Anahat Singh made history by becoming the first Indian to secure the women's singles title at the World Junior Squash Championships held in Canada last week. This marked her fifth appearance at the event and her second medal, having previously won bronze in Cairo last year.

In the finals, Anahat triumphed over Egypt's Ruqayya Salem with a decisive 3-0 victory, earning her the prestigious championship title.

Minister's Encouragement for Future Aspirations

During his interaction with the young athletes, Mandaviya urged them to view their recent achievements as the start of a longer journey, with significant events like the Asian Games 2026 and the Olympic Games 2028 on the horizon.

He praised Anahat for her remarkable success, stating that her victory could inspire countless young Indians to pursue squash.
