Gavit's Record-Breaking Performance

On Day 7 of the Games, Gavit made history by clocking a Commonwealth Games record of 10.71 seconds to win the gold medal, while his teammate Basil finished closely behind in 10.83 seconds, securing the silver. England's Kevin Santos claimed the bronze with a time of 10.85 seconds, marking a memorable podium sweep for India in the para-athletics sprint event.

Gavit showcased an impressive sprint over the final 30 meters, pulling ahead of the competition, while Basil successfully fended off Santos in the final moments to ensure India took both top spots.

Gavit's gold was the only one for India on that day, contributing to a total of three medals. Basil's silver followed long jumper Murali Sreeshankar's earlier silver in the men's long jump, where he achieved a best of 8.09 meters.
