President Droupadi Murmu's Congratulations

On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu extended her congratulations to both the women's and men's skeet shooting teams for clinching bronze medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. She commended the athletes for their exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork that brought pride to the nation.

In a post shared on X, she stated, "Congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event at the Asian Games 2026. Your skill, determination, and team spirit have made the nation proud. May you continue to achieve greater laurels in the future." The women's team secured third place with a total score of 331, with Raiza and Parinaaz each scoring 111 points, while Maheshwari added 109. China took home the gold with 346 points, and Kazakhstan earned the silver medal.

Men's Team Recognition

The President also acknowledged the men's skeet team, expressing her pride in their performance. She wrote on X, "India’s shooters continue to shine at the Asian Games! Warm congratulations to Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill, and Mairaj Ahmad Khan for securing the Bronze Medal in the Men’s Skeet Team event at the Asian Games 2026. The men's team finished with a score of 346, tying with Kazakhstan but winning the bronze after a shoot-off. Naruka also advanced to the individual final in men's skeet.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the women's team, highlighting their achievement as the first-ever bronze medal in the women's skeet team event at the Asian Games. India's Overall Medal Performance

These two shooting medals contributed to India's overall tally at the Games, which also included a historic bronze in soft tennis by Jay Meena and a silver medal from veteran weightlifter Mirabai Chanu in the women's 49kg category. As of now, India has secured a total of 11 medals, placing the country 11th in the overall standings, while China leads with 63 medals.
