Announcement of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially revealed the squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2026, set to commence on June 14. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team, with Smriti Mandhana serving as the vice-captain. A significant challenge for the Indian women's team will be the absence of all-rounder Amanjot Kaur, whose lack of participation could be a major setback for the squad.

Impact of Amanjot Kaur's Injury

Due to an injury, the star all-rounder will miss the T20 World Cup, and according to captain Harmanpreet Kaur, she is expected to be sidelined for approximately three to four months. Fast bowler Nandini Sharma has been included in the team for the first time following the injuries to Kashvi Gautam and Amanjot Kaur. Earlier this year, Nandini made headlines by becoming the first bowler from Delhi Capitals to take a hat-trick in the Women's Cricket Premier League.

Strengthening the Squad

With the return of Radha Yadav and Yastika Bhatia, India has announced robust teams for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 and the upcoming tour of England. The finalization of the team took place during a selection committee meeting attended by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, head coach Amol Mujumdar, selection committee chairperson Amita Sharma, and BCCI secretary Devjeet Saikia. Yastika had missed the previous year's Women's ODI World Cup and the 2026 Women's Premier League due to a severe knee injury sustained in September 2025, but she has since undergone successful ACL reconstruction surgery.
