Vikram Misri, India's Foreign Secretary, recently met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the White House during a three-day visit to the United States. This meeting has been described as highly “positive and productive.” The discussions focused on enhancing trade, defense, and strategic relations between India and the US. Rubio is scheduled to visit India next month, which is anticipated to be a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties. Sergio Gore, the US Ambassador to India, shared details of this meeting on the social media platform 'X', stating, “Welcoming Vikram Misri at the White House! A successful meeting with Marco Rubio focused on key issues such as trade, defense, and the Quad.”


According to the Indian Embassy, Misri and Landau discussed bilateral priorities and exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual concern. Hooker mentioned that he and Misri explored ways for India and the US to collaborate more closely in defense and economic sectors. He emphasized the search for practical methods to enhance security and prosperity for both Americans and Indians, including efforts through the Quad.
