Strengthening India-UAE Relations

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, India and the UAE reaffirmed the importance of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, exploring avenues to boost collaboration in emerging sectors such as defense, space, nuclear energy, technology, and innovation.

During a meeting on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed their commitment to working closely within the BRICS framework to promote mutual interests and enhance cooperation.

The leaders recognized the advancements made in their bilateral relations across various fields.

An official statement highlighted the UAE’s International Holding Company’s announcement of a significant investment in a $11.5 billion integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha, marking India's largest aluminium investment.

This initiative is anticipated to establish Odisha as a key player in the global aluminium manufacturing sector.

Additionally, the leaders acknowledged the potential of the sovereign investment platform L’Imad in further strengthening the India-UAE partnership for mutual advantage.

The visit underscored the tradition of consistent leadership engagement and the generational continuity that fortifies the longstanding relationship between India and the UAE.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi on Friday to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit hosted by India.

BRICS includes Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE, with partner nations such as Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

This visit follows a previous meeting between PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on June 16.
