India and Japan Forge Strategic Partnership with 10-Year Investment Plan

With a target of 10 trillion Yen in investments, the focus will be on enhancing collaboration between small and medium enterprises and startups. The leaders emphasized the importance of their partnership for global peace and security, while also launching initiatives aimed at sustainable development and economic security. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening ties between the two countries.
 

Strengthening Ties Between India and Japan

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba engaged in a significant agreement exchange, reinforcing their collaborative efforts across various sectors. Following their discussions, PM Modi described the talks as both fruitful and meaningful, announcing a shared vision for the next decade between India and Japan.


During his address, PM Modi emphasized the importance of both nations as leading global economies and vibrant democracies. He highlighted that their partnership is crucial not only for their mutual benefit but also for fostering global peace and security. Key areas of focus include investment, innovation, economic stability, environmental sustainability, technology, healthcare, mobility, and cultural exchanges.


Investment Goals and Economic Cooperation

PM Modi revealed that India and Japan aim to attract 10 trillion Yen in Japanese investments over the next ten years. He noted that this investment strategy will prioritize the integration of small and medium enterprises and startups from both countries.


He stated, "We have set a goal of investment of 10 Trillion Yen from Japan in India in the next 10 years. Special emphasis will be laid on connecting India’s and Japan’s small and medium enterprises and startups."

PM Modi also commended the Joint Crediting Mechanism for energy as a significant achievement, asserting that the green partnership between India and Japan is as robust as their economic collaboration. He announced the initiation of economic security cooperation aimed at fulfilling the objectives set by both nations.


"Our Joint Crediting Mechanism for energy is a major victory. It shows that our green partnership is as strong as our economic partnership. In this direction, we are also beginning the sustainable fuels initiatives and battery supply chain partnership. We are launching the economic security cooperation initiative. Under this, we will go ahead in critical and strategic sectors, with an extensive approach."
