On Wednesday, India ascended to the eighth position in the Asian Games medal standings, reaching a total of 10 gold medals. This impressive leap was fueled by remarkable performances from the compound archers and an additional gold in shooting.

India's overall medal count now stands at 60, which includes 10 gold, 21 silver, and 29 bronze medals. The country excelled in compound archery, winning gold in all three team events. Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai contributed another gold in the mixed team trap event, while boxing and wrestling added three bronze medals to the tally.

Medal Standings Overview

The four gold medals secured on Wednesday propelled India up two spots to eighth place. Bahrain holds the seventh position with 11 gold medals, while Kazakhstan is ninth with a total of 56 medals, including nine golds. Women's Team Gold Achievement

The women's team, consisting of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi, and Prithika Pradeep, initiated the gold rush by defeating China's team 238-234. They not only won the event but also matched the world record, successfully defending their Asian Games title. Jadhav's flawless performance, hitting all 10s, was pivotal, alongside the excellent contributions from Kushal Dalal and Ganesh Mani Ratnam.

Mixed Team Victory and Olympic Qualification

Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav clinched the mixed team gold after a nail-biting final against South Korea, winning 158-157 in a shoot-off.

In shooting, Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai overcame a challenging start to win gold in the mixed team trap event. Their score of 34 surpassed the previous Asian Games record of 30, set by Qatar earlier this year. Qatar took silver with a score of 32, while China secured bronze with 23 points.

Women's Hockey Team Advances to Final

In women's hockey, the Indian team triumphed over South Korea with a score of 2-0 in the semifinals, securing a spot in the gold medal match. After a scoreless first half, Ishika converted a penalty corner in the 43rd minute, followed by a second goal from Salima Tete in the 47th minute.

Bronze Medals in Boxing and Wrestling
