Heightened Security Outside Parliament

In anticipation of the Monsoon session of Parliament and the protest march organized by the 'Cockroach People's Party' (CJP), security has been significantly intensified outside the Parliament premises. Abhijit Dipke, the founder of CJP, has concluded his hunger strike after being persuaded by the father of a NEET student who tragically took her own life. The CJP shared on X that Riya Thapa's father urged Dipke to end his hunger strike so he could lead the march to Parliament. Given the scale of this movement during the Monsoon session, both the Delhi police and intelligence agencies are on high alert, with several gates of the Parliament building being closed.

Police Response to Protesters

According to a video posted by social activist Yogendra Yadav on X, police allegedly used tear gas to disperse protesters near the Parliament during the CJP's march. The CJP expressed gratitude to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for raising the issue of police action against protesters who had gathered at Jantar Mantar prior to the CJP's march to Parliament.

Tensions Rise as Protesters Attempt to Break Security Barriers

On Monday, several protesters attempted to breach security barriers near Shastri Bhawan while trying to reach Jantar Mantar for the CJP's march. In response, security forces deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd. This incident occurred amid rising tensions in a high-security area. As a precaution, access to several metro stations, including Janpath, Patel Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Tirth, was restricted, leaving many passengers stranded inside the stations. A heavy presence of police and paramilitary forces has been deployed in central Delhi to prevent any security lapses.
