Nalbari, Sept 13: A new hostel was inaugurated at the Zubeen Garg Football Academy located in Mukalmua on Sunday, designed to offer enhanced support to young footballers in the region as they train and seek opportunities in the sport.

Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of singer Zubeen Garg, officially opened the hostel with Barkhetri MLA Narayan Deka in attendance. The academy's jersey features the initials “ZG,” honoring Zubeen Garg.

During her speech at the event, Garima expressed her joy at the development and acknowledged Deka's contributions to the academy's growth.

“It’s wonderful to be here, and I extend my gratitude to MLA Narayan Deka for his initiative. Since last year, he has been instrumental in establishing the Zubeen Garg Football Academy, and now with the addition of the hostel, it’s a significant step forward. I believe Zubeen would have also expressed his thanks,” she remarked.

Garima hopes that the academy will serve as a launching pad for young football talents from the region, enabling them to reach higher levels in their careers.

“I anticipate that many gifted youngsters will emerge from here. Zubeen always believed that players from Assam could compete on a global stage, and I am confident that dream will materialize,” she added.

This tournament attracted players, organizers, and local residents, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the event.

The new hostel represents a significant advancement for the local sports community, particularly for young athletes from Barkhetri who need accommodation while training.
