The proposal to name the road after the American president was first suggested by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in December 2025.

Initially, the project faced delays due to global uncertainties, including tariff disputes with the US and conflicts in the Middle East. However, with tensions easing, the state government has revived the proposal and is moving forward with the inauguration. Reports indicate that US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, will attend the ceremony alongside Revanth Reddy.
