Call for Preservation of Educational Institutions

On Tuesday, Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi emphasized that Jauhar University is an integral part of India's heritage, advocating for the preservation of educational institutions rather than their demolition. In a statement, he expressed concern over the orders to dismantle universities, suggesting that such actions indicate a conspiracy to keep future generations uneducated. He urged the government to rise above political vendettas.

Pratapgarhi remarked that it is commendable that the commissioner recognizes the importance of preserving educational institutions instead of demolishing them. His comments come amid ongoing disputes regarding the proposed demolition of 38 buildings at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University in Rampur. The Moradabad Divisional Commissioner's court has temporarily halted the demolition proceedings as of Monday.




Mehbooba Mufti, president of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party, criticized the proposed demolitions on Sunday, labeling them as acts driven by "hatred and revenge." She urged support for the protesting students, stating on X that destroying institutions like Jauhar University is nothing but an expression of animosity. Mufti called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to learn from recent protests at Jantar Mantar, highlighting how the youth of the country are rejecting divisive politics and urging support for the protesting students.

He questioned why the Uttar Pradesh government cannot regularize the constructions of Jauhar University when other constructions can be regularized through administrative orders. He further inquired about the apparent discrimination and malice against Jauhar University compared to other constructions that have been regularized by the BJP government based on administrative orders.
