Imran Masood Denies Hindu-Muslim Agenda Amid Assam Political Turmoil

In a recent political exchange, Congress MP Imran Masood has rejected allegations from Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi, asserting that the claims are rooted in personal agendas rather than religious divides. Masood emphasized the financial dynamics at play in Assam politics and questioned the significance of Bordoloi's departure from the Congress party. Bordoloi, who recently joined the BJP, cited internal humiliation and lack of support as reasons for his exit. This ongoing political drama raises questions about the future of party dynamics in Assam as the elections approach.

Congress MP Responds to Allegations

Congress Member of Parliament Imran Masood has dismissed allegations made by Nagaon MP Pradyut Bordoloi, asserting that there is no Hindu-Muslim issue involved. He characterized Bordoloi's claims as driven by personal motives. Representing Saharanpur in the Lok Sabha and serving on the Congress selection committee for the upcoming Assam elections, Masood stated that there is no personal animosity towards him; rather, it is Bordoloi's private agenda that has failed. He emphasized that the political landscape in Assam is heavily influenced by financial factors.

Masood's Comments on Party Dynamics

Masood further noted that Priyanka Gandhi had met with Bordoloi and others, but the decision to leave the party was solely Bordoloi's. He pointed out that most Congress leaders are Hindus and questioned whether Bordoloi's departure would have any significant impact. He insisted that the situation is not about religion but rather Bordoloi's personal agenda. Regarding the timing of such statements, Masood remarked that making such claims during election periods is inappropriate, although some discontent is expected.

Bordoloi's Reasons for Leaving Congress

Recently, Bordoloi, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), cited ongoing internal humiliation and a lack of support from party leadership as reasons for his departure. He referred to a meeting of the Assam Central Election Committee where Masood allegedly dismissed his accusations against a candidate as fabricated. Bordoloi accused that candidate of criminal collusion, expressing that there was no single reason for his exit, but rather a feeling of suffocation and disrespect.

Concerns Over Leadership Statements

Bordoloi expressed his disappointment over Masood's comments, stating that the communal leader had labeled his evidence against the candidate as false and fabricated. He noted that Masood made these remarks in the presence of the party's top leadership, while the APC president remained silent, which deeply saddened him.
