Impact of Iran-Israel Conflict on Oil Prices in Raipur

The conflict between the US and Israel against Iran has triggered a notable rise in oil prices in Raipur, with increases ranging from 15% to 25%. This surge is impacting various sectors, particularly farmers who rely on tractors for agriculture. Customers are reporting significant hikes in oil and grease prices, with some products seeing increases of up to 50 rupees per liter. Experts warn that if the conflict persists, further price hikes are likely. This situation is causing frustration among vehicle owners and service providers alike, as supply shortages continue to affect the market.

Rising Oil Prices Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Raipur: The ongoing conflict between the US and Israel against Iran has led to a significant increase in the prices of LPG and various engine oils. Reports indicate that engine oil prices have surged between 15% and 25%. On Wednesday, the US announced a ceasefire, but the duration of this pause in hostilities remains uncertain. However, it is evident that the prices of engine oil, gear oil, and hydraulic oil have risen by approximately 30 to 40 rupees per liter. Experts suggest that if the conflict does not fully resolve, further price hikes in oil are likely in the near future. Many farmers in Chhattisgarh rely on tractors for their agricultural activities, and they are beginning to feel the financial strain from these rising costs.

Effects of the Iran-Israel War
A customer visiting for vehicle servicing remarked, “I came in for servicing my vehicle and noticed the increase in oil prices. Previously, oil prices were around 200, 250, and 300 rupees, but now they have reached 350 rupees. Similarly, the price of grease has also increased by 30 to 40 rupees. The MRP has risen compared to before. I learned about the price hike while getting my vehicle serviced, and shopkeepers are indicating that the supply of goods has decreased.”

Drivers Frustrated by Sudden Price Hikes
Another shopkeeper, Ramchandra, shared, “I came to buy oil for my Activa scooter and discovered that the prices have increased by 30 to 40 rupees. When I inquired with the shopkeeper, they explained that the war has led to a reduction in supply, causing the oil prices to rise.”

Opinions from Lubricant Retailers
Dinesh Chhabra, a lubricant retailer, stated, “We distribute oils from two companies. Our stock includes brands like Goodyear, Vasu, 4T Castrol, HP, Servo, and Mak. The prices of all these oils have increased by about 30 to 50 rupees per liter. The lubricant products include oil and grease, and all types of oils, including engine oil, hydraulic oil, and gear oil, have seen price hikes. Due to product shortages, companies are unable to supply goods, and we expect oil prices to rise further. The new MRP products have not yet reached the market.”

Potential for Further Price Increases - Petrol Pump Operator
Vasu Makheja, who operates a petrol pump in Bhata Para, mentioned, “All products derived from crude oil, including lubricant oil, are used as engine oil, gear oil, and grease in vehicles. Due to the war, prices have increased by 15% to 25% over the past 20 days. The price of oil for trucks, which was previously 225 rupees per liter, has now risen to 280 rupees. Overall, oil prices have increased by 30 to 40 rupees. If the conflict continues, we anticipate further increases in oil prices.”
