Hyderabad, July 29: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Jubilee Hills Police Station in Hyderabad has been suspended amid serious allegations of sexual exploitation and blackmail against a woman.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar announced the suspension of U. Srinivasulu Reddy late Tuesday night, following a complaint from a 31-year-old woman from Sangareddy district.
After a preliminary investigation into the woman's claims, the Commissioner decided to suspend Reddy, pending further departmental inquiry.
The woman reported to the Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand that Reddy had sexually assaulted her, coerced her into having an abortion, and threatened her life. She also accused him of physical violence.
According to her allegations, Reddy blackmailed her by threatening to release personal videos and demanded a payment of Rs 2 crore. She stated that she had already paid him several thousands of rupees on multiple occasions.
The incidents reportedly began in 2021 when she approached the Ameenpur police station regarding a family matter. At that time, Reddy was serving as an inspector and later contacted her about the case, eventually demanding sexual favors.
She claimed that Reddy invited her to his home in KPHB, and when she declined, he threatened to visit her residence. It was there that she alleged he sexually assaulted her. Following the incident, she was taken to a hospital where she underwent an abortion due to the pregnancy.
Additionally, the woman alleged that Reddy had paid Rs 25 lakh to secure his position as the Jubilee Hills SHO.
Reddy, who has been in his position for just four months, has denied all allegations, asserting that the woman is the one who threatened him and extorted money.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police are expected to record statements from both the suspended officer and the complainant.
